How hydrating hard work became our passion & priority.
In an effort to make a better sports drink, Fluid began as a senior project between two students (one in nutritional biochemistry and one in exercise science) at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, CA in 2006.
Using the money made from personal training and coaching, they bought ingredients in bags, drums, and even 50lb sacks and began powder mixing in the kitchen. After several trial & error batches (and lots of additional research), they developed sports drink their athletes loved (and one that would eventually win awards in the real world!)
In 2012, Fluid started supplying local CAL FIRE hand crews and learned about a solar farm where many workers were struggling to stay hydrated. Eager to help, we met with the safety director to assess the situation and get to work.
Two weeks later, we had samples of an electrolyte powder that tasted great, actually replaced what was lost in sweat, and wouldn’t break the bank. It was a win-win, and a friend complemented us on taking a “tactical” approach to dehydration. Fluid Tactical was born.
